PA Cyber 2nd grader granted Make-a-Wish trip to Disney World

Posted June 16, 2009

A PA Cyber Charter School student has been granted an official Make-A-Wish for a birthday celebration in Disney World.

Second grader Brieanna Price from Ephrata, Pa., is to be granted her wish on Oct. 19 with a family trip Disney.

Accompanying Brieanna are her parents and siblings, Kenny, a fifth-grader, and Kaitlyn a second-grader, who are also students at the PA Cyber Charter School.

Brieanna is a special education student with muscular dystrophy and never thought she would get to go to Disney.

According to Brieanna's mother, Stephanie Price, the whole thing was a surprise. Brieanna's doctor wrote into the Make-A-Wish Foundation on behalf of the Price family without their knowledge.

As a part of the wish, she will celebrate her birthday with her favorite Disney character, Ariel, with an "ultimate Ariel birthday party."

"Since Brieanna was three years old she has been having Ariel-themed birthday parties. She loves Ariel and the Disney movie, "The Little Mermaid." My husband and I always say that she loves it so much because of the song "part of your world," because she just wants to be part of our world."

Melissa Lanious, Brieanna's instructional supervisor, said Make-A-Wish could not have granted a wish to a sweeter girl. "Brieanna is such a sweet girl that works very hard in all her subjects, She earns very good grades and tries her best at everything she does. I am very happy for her and her family."
