Bethlehem, PA, June 3, 2009

Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School will be graduating the first class in the history of the school. The school is in its seventh year of operation and was established to provide a quality choice in education built on a global foundation of academic excellence, active parental involvement, and applied character development, by integrating technology into innovative teaching strategies and best learning practices. The graduates are 100% college bound. In addition, over 50% of the graduates have attended Lehigh Valley Academy from the very beginning. The graduation will take place at Iacocca Hall on Lehigh University's mountaintop campus and is a historic milestone for the school which now enrolls over 800 students from all over the Lehigh Valley and has a waiting list of several hundred. As a public charter school, no tuition is charged, and students are admitted by lottery. The school has established a reputation for quality education throughout the Lehigh Valley. It is the only school in the region to offer the full International Baccalaureate Continuum.

The International Baccalaureate is the gold standard of school curricula. IB offers high quality programmes that feature global foundations, critical thinking, and collaborative learning. There are three IB programmes: Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School (LVA) received official notification that it has earned Middle Years Programme authorization from the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB). LVA is now one of only 13 schools in the United States and the only school in the Lehigh Valley to offer all three IB programmes.
