About AHCS:
Achievement House Charter School is a public, cyber charter high school that was founded in 2004 by a talented and dedicated group of individuals who shared a vision. Chartered by the PA Department of Education, AHCS students pay no tuition and the school is currently open to children of PA residents in grades 9 – 12, with a curriculum for grades 7 & 8 in the development stage. Students attend classes via the internet and specialized software with a computer and related equipment supplied by the school. PA state requirements must be fulfilled to graduate and receive a diploma.
The mission of AHCS is to provide a comprehensive high school curriculum and earned diploma to students who like to accelerate their education and thrive in a non-traditional environment. The education will combine:
* curriculum that exceeds the Commonwealth standards and project-based learning using both textbooks and an online curriculum;
* intensive student/teacher and mentor contact to insure a supportive atmosphere;
* advanced technological tools plus small classes and individual attention;
* small school community ;
* appropriate stimulating assignments requiring collaborative activities, research, integration and application;
* flexible schedule that actively engages the student;
* a full range of elective course offerings; and,
* parental involvement is the educational process
The Position:
Achievement House Charter School is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as CEO. The CEO is responsible for managing the school organization within the established mission and vision of AHCS with administrative authority over all employees, programs and finances. This individual must possess and demonstrate an excellent and collaborative relationship with the Board of Trustees to whom he/she reports. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall performance and operations of the school which serves approximately 300 students within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Position Qualifications:
* Minimum requirement of a Bachelors' Degree and five years' experience in management or education position
* A valid PA Certificate of Superintendent Letter of Eligibility preferred
* Demonstrated success with personnel management, finance, and strategic planning.
* Strong communication, facilitation, leadership, and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
* Desire and ability to engage in continuing education and professional development
* Experience with MS Office, Windows, and other relevant software
* Provides support and advocacy in the charter school community
Compensation: To be negotiated.
